Last summer Eric and I had the pleasure of enjoying a tv filled summer of our new favorite show “Work of Art”. Luckily! The new season that we have both been anticipating is finally premiering its second season on October 12th 2011 at 9pm!
For thoes of you that havn’t heard of the show, heres a quick rundown:
Produced by Sarah Jessica Parker and the producers of Project Runway and Top Chef, 14 contestants from all medias of art come together in hopes of winning a solo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum and a cash prize of $100,000, provided by Prismacolor®. Hosting the show is China Chow who is accompanied by a pannel of judges – Bill Powers, owner of New York Gallery and a literary art contirbutor, Jerry Saltz, an art critic for New York Magazine and lastly Jeanne Greenberg who is the curartor and owner for Salon94 gallery in New York.
Much like Project Runway the contestant are provided with a mentor like Tim Gunn, however this role is filled by art auctioneer Simon de Pury.
Each week the contestants are pushed to the edge to create unique pieces based on their specialties ranging from painting, sculpture, photography, collage, and industrial design. Now ofcourse there’s a twist to the challenges, sometimes these challenges could be based on an idea that allows the artist to go beyond their regular work and branch out to a medium they are not familliar with.
I CANT WAIT!!
