Vancouver Fashion vs. Paris Fashion

I can hardly believe that it has been almost 2 weeks since I’ve been home from Paris. When you’re on vacation, the days seem to go by quickly, especially when it’s only a 1 week vacation. But, nothing goes by more quickly than coming home and settling into your daily routines.

There’s something to be said about enjoying your home comforts but I wish that “vacation Randa” was still around, style wise. Paris gave us the motivation to dress up a little more than we usually do in Vancouver and I tried with all of my might to continue that. Alex’s mother came to visit us from Pennsylvania for 3 days and for all of our dinner dates I did put together some Parisian inspired outfits. The thing is, I only dressed up that way because we needed to “dress up” for dinner. In Paris, that would have been an outfit to grab a coffee!

It sounds silly, but Vancouver residents just don’t dress this way. We’re a more laid-back fashion culture and enjoy our comforts of skinny jeans and yoga pants. Not that it’s a bad thing… because frankly I enjoy being comfy but I wish we just tried a little harder.

So, I’m looking for ways to combine the best of both worlds! How can I wear my comfy pieces and mix it up in a more Parisian way? I’m taking my basic pieces and jazzing them up with items that are a little more special. For example, I took my Mavi Lucy Skinny Jeans and a basic black turtleneck from the Gap (which got a hole in it by the way!!!! RIP, turtleneck) and jazzed it up with a long length moto jacket, a cute hat and instead of flats, opted for a kitten heel.

I’m going to do my best to keep this up so fingers crossed that I don’t fall to the pressures of yoga pants!

Do you feel the same way when you come home from a fashion-filled vacation??
