Independent Women’s Clothing Boutiques in Vancouver

Ah, shopping. It’s one of those experiences that I can go weeks, sometimes months without doing and then it takes one purchase for you to break that cycle. Of course, I always justify the purchase with “I can wear it on the blog!” which makes it okay, right? Yesterday, during a casual sweaty day in pre-summer Vancouver fashion, I stopped into a new Gastown pop-up for a Vancouver based brand called Serenity West. I didn’t expect to purchase anything but couldn’t resist trying on an environmentally friendly linen dress. It didn’t fit but as I made my way out the door I spotted a linen top that screamed “WEAR ME!” So, I did and long story, well, long, it came home with me. There is something special about shopping local and shopping at independent women’s clothing boutiques. There is a level of customer service and quality that you know you’re going to get when you shop at them and they always carry the most interesting brands. Because most of the boutiques will have a niche style, you’re more likely to find slow fashion brands from international designers that don’t get their showtime in bigger box stores.

This weeks’s outfit photos are from one of my favourite independent women’s clothing boutiques, Blubird. They just recently went through a major re-brand and moved their shop down the street to a larger location. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend it. It’s just gorgeous inside!
