One of the most commonly asked questions for those who are learning how to be a fashion blogger is “How do you find the time to take so many outfit photos?” Well, I’m going to let you in on a little secret today.
The truth is, I really can’t find the time to take so many outfit photos. To be a consistent fashion blogger, you must showcase multiple outfits in a short amount of time. There isn’t anything more boring than seeing the same outfit over and over again so to keep you inspired, we have to mix it up a few times a week.
On a weekly basis I find myself wearing the same outfits. Blog life doesn’t always equal real life so I won’t be showing you the same camel coat that I’ve worn for the last 7 days! How do I mix it up? I spend 1 – 2 days a month photographing multiple outfits with my Vancouver fashion photographers Street Scout Me and Samantha Chan. The plan is simple, one hour and 3 outfits.
The process can be simple! Wear first outfit, drive to first location, shoot! Change in car, de-wrinkle, lint roll, drive to second location and shoot! Repeat as many times as necessary. It can be a sloppy process at times with clothing slung all over the car seats, shoes in the cup holder and don’t even get me started on where my cell phone might be!
I’ve done this process without a car and it’s not as easy. I have to pack my luggage and drag it from one public bathroom to the next so you could say that I was somewhat (more than) thrilled when I had the opportunity to drive the 2017 Ford Edge for a week. All I could think about was the possible photo locations!
Not only was this a super convenient way of taking outfit photos but Alex and I took all advantage of having a car. When you don’t have a car, you’re bound to the distrusting Vancouver transit system and all of your fun long distance ideas just simply don’t happen.

It’s been just over 4 years since I’ve had my own car and the technological advances they’ve been making floored me. We recently acquired the Amazon Echo so for me to say to a plastic speaker “Alexa, turn living room light on!” was the wave of the current-future. I didn’t think anything could top that until my Ford Edge actually spoke to me and answered all of my questions including answering my phone calls, texting my friends and family and more.

One Friday, Alex and I drove to Deep Cove for doughnuts, Surrey for Chinese food and to Commercial Drive for ice cream. On the way home my GPS showed me a roadblock 4 blocks ahead and allowed me to take a detour and get home much faster. This was with the help of real time GPS updates and 5 star safety ratings. Additionally, having four sensors & front and back cameras around the car notified me how close I am to other cars/objects and made for this pole-backing-into driver way more aware.
We all need our tunes! I listed to 53 Chill on Sirus Radio for 6 days and it was blissful.
In 5 days, I drove:
- Surrey to Burnaby
- Burnaby to Vancouver
- Vancouver to Surrey
- Surrey to Vancouver
- Vancouver to Burnaby
- Throughout downtown Vancouver x 3
- Kitsilano to North Vancouver
