Home Decor Project Phase 2: The Final Product

A few weeks ago I posted about a set of lamps and table that I purchased from a garage sale with Eric and had planned to repaint and basically overhaul it’s look. Well, it’s finally complete and I am so happy with the final result!

While I was sanding down the lamps I was shocked to see the original paint color come through…it was YELLOW AND RED!!! They must have belonged to Ronald McDonald or something. Suddenly the orange and gold wasn’t so bad! I stripped down the color as much as I could and sprayed both lamps with a white semi-gloss spray paint. Then with the mint colored premium wall paint I hand painted each area. Cost for both lamps $5 + Cost for paint $10 + Cost for lamp shade $12 = $27!!

I still need to track down the second lamp shade at a Home Sense location because I couldn’t find another one. I may just scrap it and buy 2 new ones.

The table needed some major sanding and cleaning and after 3 cans of white semi gloss spray paint it’s still looking a little grey, I need to add at least 1 more coat to get the vibrant white. The handle and hinges were also painted gold. Cost for table $10 + Cost for paint $20 = $30!!

Take a look at the previous post (here) to see the before shots and how it has come to life!

Your lamp and table look fantastic, Randa! I admire you for doing these DIYs. I don’t have the patience to restore furniture even though I know it’s substantially cheaper can be so rewarding. Great work!
