Cointreau x Design: Fashion Illustration

Some events can take weeks, months, even years in the making. Once it comes all together, you look forward to celebrating! The most asked question when running an event is “aren’t you excited??” and my answer is “you mean for it to be over? Yes!”

On Saturday I had the pleasure of hosting the first Cointreau x Design Workshop Series for some lovely women in Vancouver’s Fashion Industry. This workshop series has been an idea long in the making by Kelsey Klassen, Remy Cointreau’s Regional Marketing Manager – also my right hand gal! When Kelsey approached me with the idea to create a workshop series for their #DreamDareCreate campaign, I immediately knew we had to start off with Fashion Illustration!

We were very lucky to bring on board one of Vancouver’s top illustrators, MelEesa Lorett to teach an intimate group of 18 ladies how to sketch like a fashion pro. Of course, since we were not offering a 3 month course, we simply showed our guests how to colour like a pro! When you bring 18 women together on a Saturday afternoon for colouring and cocktails – nothing can go wrong! (In fact, the sun came out!)

L’Abattoirs resident head bartender, Kaitey Ingram created 3 special cocktails for the afternoon and included a DIY hands on showcase on how to make the cocktails ourselves.

Cointreau is all about female empowerment.

“LA PARISIENNE COINTREAU, her motto: be a free-spirited woman. Don’t follow the rules, PLAY with them. Avoid conventions, forge your own path. Stay smart and witty, always in the know. PURSUE YOUR PASSIONS, sparkle like a muse. Trust your instincts, explore versatility. Express your CREATIVITY, combine EFFORTLESSLY. Share time with your friends, entertain often. Live the moment. Twist your life like twist a cocktail and have the elegance to be yourself!”

The #DREAMDARECREATE campaign was launched to DREAM BIG – Unleash and reveal your creativity, open your mind to inspiration and sensations, nourish your imagination. DARE TO BELIEVE IN YOURSELF – Think beyond your own boundaries, unchain yourself from constraints in order to transcend them. And lastly, CREATE TO FEEL ALIVE – Make your dream come true and prove to the world that anything is possible.

And we did just that.
