Closet Confessions: Megan West of The Pointy Toe Shoe Crew

If you didn’t know, Vancouver has its own Rachel Zoe! Okay, maybe not a real Rachel Zoe but close enough. With the long wavy hair, boho-chic outfits, always in a killer high heel and tons of statement jewellery..Megan West packs it all into her apartment sized closet. As an active stylist, fashion writer for Kenton Magazine and 1/3 of the fashion blogging gang for The Pointy Toe Shoe Crew you are sure to see her at all major Vancouver fashion weeks and events in all of her fashion forward glory.

When I say “apartment sized closet” I don’t mean it lightly. Megan literally uses her entire apartment as a closet! Why wouldn’t you want to live amongst your clothes?? The rooms were filled with racks on rack of fur, sequin and sections for bohemian looks while the over flow of jewelry spilled all over her bedroom dresser. Any regular person could get lost in the sea of jewels but Megan has it all locked down in her own system.

“Okay so I think what we forced me to confess here is that I have a thing for fur … and that I love myself a sequin.”

“Jewelry is a massive part of my style. When it comes to accessorizing, a minimalist I am not.”

“Accessories are such a simple way to transform your look. A really great outfit can become incredible with the addition of some bangles and a great necklace.”
“My sister gave me this Betsey Johnson charm bracelet, so it’s an extra-special piece. Plus it makes twinkling noises when you walk, which is (obviously) a fun bonus feature.”
” I’ve become pretty attached to this vintage gold and turquoise necklace. There’s something very delicate and special about it. Gold bangles like the pair in this photo are sort of an every day basic.”

“The higher the heel, the better! I don’t actually remember what it’s like to see the world from my natural height.”
” It’s funny because I have a life-altering fear of snakes, yet somehow it’s okay to wear one on my arm. I guess gold makes everything okay … ”
“This is a pretty classic boho look for me. Bell bottoms, a floor length cardi and loads of gold jewels is one of my go-to casual looks.”

“I definitely have a thing for ridiculously huge platforms. They’re just an innate part of my style.”

“This vintage vest doesn’t get to come out too often, but I love to wear it with jeans and a tunic. Lately I’ve been pretty obsessed with that vintage cheetah-print number in the back.”
” I love classics with an edge! This bleached-out denim and leather jacket was one of my go-to basics this past spring and summer.”
“This is my more boho rack where you’ll find all of my maxi dresses, fringed cardigans and loose tunics. There’s also some grungier pieces mixed in, as I do like to mix a bit of boho-chic with a grunge-y edge.”

“One can never have too many great little jackets. I’ve had this one for years, but it never really goes out of style. PS. I really can’t think of a better place to hang out …”

“This was such a major moment! Versace has been the dream as far back as I can remember. Me and Madison (my co-blogger) slept on the floor of Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas for 5 hours to land ourselves a piece of the Donatella empire.Totally worth it.  It’s all about the details! The dramatic back really gives this dress that iconic Versace look. And meeting Rachel Zoe at an event this past summer? Let’s just say this photo is the colliding of two seriously incredible moments.

“Everyone needs to have themselves a sequin moment! Maybe it’s the former figure skater in me, but I can’t resist a great sequin mini.”

“This photo is basically my happy place. I have a love affair with Southern California, so most of these L.A street names have some kind of memory attached to them. There’s also a definite California influence reflected in my style.”

“My Grandma gave me this jumpsuit from the 70’s. With a few key accessories (and double platform wedges for that matter) it becomes totally modern and on-trend.”

“Can’t leave the home without an over-sized pair of sunnies! Plus if you’re feeling less than fabulous, they have the great bonus feature of shielding you from the world.”

“Once you’ve got a solid repertoire of basic pumps, it’s fun to play around with more adventurous styles.”
