This is the 3rd and last installment of Closet Confessions for June and we’re going off with the prettiest bang ever! Leonie Markhorst, writer and creator behind The Signature Bow fashion and lifestyle blog was kind enough to let us into her closet… and yes, it was indeed full of sparkle and color!
Leonie brings the European flare to the Vancouver fashion scene with her eclectic outfits of vintage and new. She definitely shows her style through peter pan collars, pleated skirts and some fierce baubles and gems. This was the perfect time to shoot her closet since she just arrived back from the Netherlands with handfuls of her mother’s items – free shopping!
You’re sure to spot Leonie at the major fashion events in Vancouver always wearing color and a major heel.
“I found this piece at one of my favorite stores on Main Street: Front & Company. It’s a reworked dress from vintage fabric. I love how something old can turn into something new and, of course, the ‘tangerine tango’ color is fun too!”
“I bought the top and skirt while being back in Europe. I haven’t worn this look yet but it’s already a summer favorite. Now I just need to wait for the sun to come out!”
“You can’t tell on the picture, but the other side of this mini walk-in closet is the bf’s side. Sadly our closet ratio is not really in balance, we always make fun of it. He even calls the whole bedroom area “Leonie’s room”. I guess I’ve taken up a little bit of space for my clothes…”
“My clothing racks don’t only showcase my current favorites, but serve as room decoration as well. That might be the expat curse… it takes you a bit longer to properly decorate your apartment because you need to focus on getting all those visas first ;-)”
“This is my first peplum item and I am hooked. What I like most about it? The flattering feminine shape. I’ve paired it up with the floral skirt, but it will look great with a pair of skinny jeans and high heeled sandals too.”
“It took me months before I got my hands on this pair of Steve Madden ‘Grettta’ heels. You either hate them or like them. I LOVE them!”
“I never really was into jewellery – although I did have my own jewellery brand and webshop – but in the last month I’ve acquired a relatively large collection (jewellery hoarder?). I was also lucky to get a whole bunch of vintage jewellery from my mom and grandmother. I will keep those pieces forever! My Miss Dior I See Noise print really adds to the sparkle as well!”
“Surprise! I like bows…”
“I have a thing for vintage jackets and blazers. The color of this Escada jacket is awesome and I like the big shoulders. It’s quite the statement piece.”
