If you want meet a guy with cool, eclectic style and a personality to match, then you’ll want to introduce yourself to Joshua Langston. When first attending events I noticed him. He was that guy in the crowd who wore whatever he wanted and it stood out – definitely nothing that anyone else in Vancouver was wearing to these events.
I knew I had to get into his closet and show you all what he’s about! Joshua works as an Editor and Lead Contributor for The Social Life. Before his take off with TSL Joshua worked in various roles in the fashion industry from styling, fashion show production and event planning. Although he works in Social Media Development his true love is writing.
During his time in the industry Joshua has at the pleasure of meeting some great fashion players including Leandra Medine of The Man Repeller, Derek Blasberg, Nicola Formichetti, Paul Smith, Mary Katrantzou…just to name a few! This fashion fiend may live in Vancouver but is sure to fly to New York whenever he gets the chance, of course for New York Fashion Week!
Let’s dive right into his closet, shall we?
“This is my happy place. If I’m ever in a bad mood I just sit in my closet and meditate. Some people like to be surrounded by trees, I prefer Prada, Dsquared and Vintage Louis Vuitton. This shirt is one of my new favourite T-shirts I got at Jennyfleur Loves – It’s Amanda Bynes in Court and says “VERSACE” Across it.”
“I tried hanging my belts for the longest time but it took up so much space. I bought this leather studded box and started rolling them into there. They take up much less space but they are constantly spilling through the top.”
“I live for a great high-top. I have always loved them, the more interesting the better. I have a few pairs that I have a special love for, this includes ALL of my Jeremy Scott x Adidas. I think I have like 8 pairs from various collections he’s done”
“My black and white Vintage Louis Vuitton Creepers, I got these at a vintage shop for a RIDICULOUS deal and they were practically never worn.”
“I keep all my high-tops along the top shelf, with a space at the end for my snapbacks, then I have a shoe cabinet as well as shoe racks under the t-shirts and dress shirts section of my closet. It’s all about maximizing the space but also allowing me to be able to see everything and have it somewhat organized.”
” I call the Adidas to the left my Bedrock & roll high-tops. The Gorilla and Panda’s and my “Mickey Mouse” high-tops are both Jeremy Scott x Adidas Originals”
” I love these Puma high-tops because they give me this Keith Harring meets Dr. Seuss vibe”
“I love hardware, it brings me back to my teenage years of listening to Nirvana and bleaching my hair to hell. I love anything sharp, pointy and inconvenient in my clothing. I have been toning it down a little lately but I feel most comfortable in a studded vest, jacket or shoes.”
“Sometimes when I can’t decide what to wear I juggle my shoes and the first ones to fall I wear.”
“I have always been a big fan of headwear. in my day to day life outside of the events and meetings I basically live in a snapback hat. UNIF does a lot of cheeky snapbacks that I love and Jennyfleur Loves has a great selection.”
“This jacket was something that shocked me, not for it’s design, but for where I got it. I was at H&M grabbing some black and white basic t-shirts and came across this jacket in the MENS section. It gave me a bit of a Stevie nicks vibe, and I had to have it.”
“I like to wear a lot of accessories. Stack up the rings, layer those necklaces, I want to make “Mr. T” blush.”
“I recently bit the bullet and got prescription glasses. I put it off for years because I would get teased in school when I wore my glasses, and being gay didn’t help. With the amount of work I do on the computer with emails and writing I noticed my eyes were getting worse. I went to Granville Optical and my friend Reid Boultbee got me into these Celine Glasses. They are actually sunglasses I had my prescription put into, I like how heavy and bold they are.”
“Bowties and neckwear should be FUN. I’m all about great printed bowties and pocket squares, they add that extra oomph to a suit.”
” I have a 4 tiered shelf for my accessories. The first tier is rows upon rows of sunglasses. Front vintage Christian Dior, to Tom ford and Prada. I recently got some glasses from “House of Holland” that are round and say “Cross my heart and hope to die” “Stick a needle in my eye” from the haute boutique Secret Location. I most recently just got some amazing wood frame sunglasses from a brand new UK line Moat house eyewear.”
“Biker gloves. Enough said.”
“One of my children, my 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli Tote/ I love the trapeze shape, but the leather grain and the heavy gold hardware makes it look a bit more butch.”
“I’m trying to up my scarf game so when I was at NYFW in February I picked up 5 Givenchy scarves (On sale sooo good I felt like I was stealing). They are very soft and lightweight and great piece to have for spring or fall.”
“Sneakers are my work out shoes, they are by Adidias and they have little computers built into them that track your progress, unfortunately no GPS to find the gym….”
“Boots are from Comme Des Garcon, I got them my first season at NYFW in 2009 at the Barneys Warehouse sale.”
“Red Paul Smith brogues from the barneys warehouse sale.”
“Dog – My roomates Chihuahua named Diesel | Hat – UNIF – Jennyfleur Loves | Shirt – TopMan | “FUCK” Pants – Patricia Field | Shoes – Dsquared”
“Our house phone is a Motorola flip phone….ACTUALLY.”
