Two weeks have come and gone and I’m flying out this morning from Melbourne back home to Vancouver. If you had asked me three days into the trip I would have told you “I cannot wait to go back home, I miss it already!” Yeah, I do still miss it, but ask me now and I’ll tell you that I would do anything to stay! That’s usually how it goes though right? The last week of the trip is always the best and you’ve made the most memories and closer relationships that are hard to break.
I packed in a lot in two weeks but alas, it’s time to head back to reality in Vancouver and get back to my schedule.
Let’s recap the last week of my trip! Click HERE to see the first week recap.
Day 8: Spent an entire day with Dan. Went to lunch on St. Brunswick Street at this cool rooftop patio pizza joint then a full afternoon at the zoo! You know I’m such a sucker for animals so to see a Koala and Kangaroo for the first time made me lose my shit! Fast forward to the evening at dinner on Chapel Street then dessert at this cool ultra modern Greek restaurant in Hawthorne.
Day 9: WEDDING DAY! Today was the day that my dearest friends Sharday and Avner got married. I can’t put into words how happy I was to be there and be a part of their beautiful outdoor ceremony at Alexandra Gardens in Kew. The party continued at the reception till 1am where I danced my little butt off.
Day 10: My last day at Amy’s – goodbyes are hard! Headed over to Shardays family’s place for a BBQ.
Day 11: Quick breakfast before spending the day in the CBD (Central Business District – their downtown) at the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the National Gallery Of Victoria. Quick walks down some stellar alleys known for their graffiti and back home to take a nap before dinner on Victoria Street where I met up with Amy and two others we traveled South East Asia with.
Day 12: Packed up my backpack and headed to Philip Island with the Orbach / Engel clans for 2 days of Island Life and gourmet homemade meals. Spent the afternoon with Sharday and her (super awesome) sister Emme at Flynns beach for some tanning action and then rested up for an evening at the Penguin Parade!!! Unfortunately I was not allowed to snap photos of this but if you ever get a chance to do it, DO IT! You wait at sunset for the sky to go completely dark and hundreds to thousands of Little Penguins swim to shore and make their way back from a full couple of days at sea finding food for their little ones.
Day 13: Rainy day with food, drinks, games and a quick jaunt around the Island.
Day 14: Packed up to leave the Island and head back to Melbourne, but first stop to play with Pelicans! Lunch in the city then coffee and shopping with Sharday and Dan on Gertrude Street at The Wilde. Finished off the evening with dinner in Collingwood.
Today: Flying Melbourne to Los Angeles to Vancouver. Byeeee!!
