“Just a single cat mom, working a nine-to-five, taking night classes and tryna’ make it in this city.” – Alex
That’s how Alex described me yesterday during lunch when we were talking about what my life has in store right now. It sounds a little off, right? But, that’s because you don’t know the whole story.
I’m going to try to make this short but let’s be honest here…
It all started when I woke up one morning and decided to end my contracts with all of my freelance clients. It was similar to the time I woke up and decided to list all of my furniture online for sale and sold it within 12 hours, because I felt I needed a change.
That would be the one that you read where I mentioned that I was looking to work for one company and remove myself from freelance work. Are we on track here?
I took half of June and all of July off of work to cleanse my mind and shift my focus on finding a job that could fulfill my needs. Little did I know… that job would find me. *cue upbeat music that provokes positive and hope…think, any movie with Jennifer Lopez*
In one month, my life has gone from “I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DOING” bundled with stress breakouts, copious amounts of chocolate and watching 10 seasons of FRIENDS for the 10th time to “FUCK YEAH I’M KICKIN’ ASS” bundled with no stress but chocolate remains.
You’re probably thinking, “okay we get it, now make this short!”
I GOT A JOB!
When the opportunity came up, I just couldn’t say no and today is my first day. I’m officially working a 9-5 in an office as the Marketing & Social Manager for Robson Street!
I’m very excited to work with a talented team at the Robson Street Business Association and to put all of my skills and efforts into one brand and really grow it. Robson Street was my go-to for downtown shopping since I’ve been a teenager. Now, I’ve come full circle and spend my days #onRobson doing all of things I love from shopping to eating and now working! Keep your eye out for me as I’ll be gallivanting up and down Robson. Be sure to say “hello!”
I’m very thankful for the RSBA to give me this opportunity and let’s all wish Nadia a lovely year ahead as she focuses on her maternity leave! I’ll do my best to fill your shoes!
Oh, and you’re probably wondering about the classes? I FINALLY signed up for Italian language classes and start my night course in September. Tickin’ those boxes off.
Permette di fare questo!
You’ll catch me at some of my favourite go-to shops: Club Monaco, Zara and Sephora.
Thank goodness for Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory! I can run down on my break and get myself one of their rich white chocolate and coconut ice cream bars.
And of course, you’ll catch me snapping photos at the fashion filled stores, like Aritzia!
