My Skincare Routine

If you’re fascinated by skincare just as much as I am, then today’s post will be a very exciting one for you! It’s been exactly 6 months since I’ve been on Accutane and just as I suspected would happen, my skin has changed and isn’t flawless like it was while using my prescription. I’m noticing tiny pimples here and there but my cystic acne in hormonal areas (neck, chin and cheeks) has not come back. Phew!

This wasn’t much of a surprise to me as I knew there was a high chance that my skin would relapse. Using Accutane in your late 20’s has a different effectiveness as if you are to use it in your teenage years or early 20’s. I’m going to see my dermatologist today to see what we can do, but with that said, my skin still looks great minus some breakout days that are totally manageable.

I’m what you can consider an experienced skincare user. I’ve been using skincare products since I was 16 and was obsessed with Oxy pads (which are really bad for your skin!) and have perfected my routine over the last 14 years (sans Oxy pads).

You may be shocked at the amount of products that I use, but skin specialists have told me that there doesn’t need to be a limit! Every product has it’s own job to repair my skin and they are not all used simultaneously. I use a total of 16 products a month! Before I break these down for you, please note that I am not a registered professional and these products are not sponsored. I am recommending them based on my personal experience.

Morning Routine
1. Miracle 10 Cleanser II I use this to cleanse my skin in the morning. It’s exfoliating properties allows me to have a light glow throughout the day. This cleanser is oil free.

2. Miracle 10 Solution I (toner) After I cleanse, I tone. This solution helps remove excess oil and helps to brighten and tone my complexion.

3. Aveda Tulasāra Bright Concentrate I’m prone to blemishes so this product helps discoloration of my marks and dark areas. This product is for all skin types.

4. Miracle 10 Light Serum I use this serum as a morning moisturizer. It helps to hydrate and firm my skin. This solution is oil free.

5. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish Conditions and exfoliates my lips.

Evening Routine:

1. Miracle 10 Cleanser II Besides cleaning my skin, this cleanser removes my makeup. This cleanser is oil free.

2. Miracle 10 Solution I (toner) After I cleanse, I tone. This solution helps remove excess oil and helps to brighten and tone my complexion.

3. Kiehl’s Hydro-Plumping Re-Texturizing Serum Concentrate – I use this product to hydrate and soothe fine lines. It helps reduce signs of aging.

4. Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Dark Spot Solution – This helps to stop future dark spots and reduce current ones. This one is an oil as opposed to my morning routine Aveda Tulsara product which is a lotion. I prefer oils in the evening so that my skin doesn’t look overly oily all day.

5. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – This product is used before you sleep to help repair the damage from the day.

NOTE: In the palm of my hand, I mix the Dark Spot Solution and the Midnight Recovery Concentrate together and apply them over my entire face and neck.

6. Philosophy Oxygenating Eye Gel Cream – Cools and refreshes my under eyes while I sleep.

7. Fresh Sugar Lip Polish Conditions and exfoliates my lips.

Extra Evening Routine:
1. Arcona Cranberry Gommage Exfoliate– I use this product once a week after my cleanser and before my toner. It helps to unclog my pores and give my face a weekly refresh.

2. The Body Shop British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask – I use this product once a week after my cleanser and before my toner. It’s applied for extra hydration and to help reduce redness of my skin. I use this on a day I feel more redness.

3. Miracle 10 Night Cream – I apply a moisturizer at the end of my routine on days that I feel my skin has been overly dry. I used to use this product every night before my Kiehl’s serums. I found that using all 3 products made my skin overly moistured. I now use this product twice a week.

4. Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque – I use this product once a week after my cleanser and before my toner. This white clay helps draw out oils and dirt from my skin. I typically use this product every Sunday to refresh from the week.

5. Miracle 10 AHA Gel I – I use this product 1 -2 times a week to help reduce the size of enlarged pours, fine lines and blemishes.

6. Sephora Face Mask Sephora has a large selection of face masks that you apply to your face for 15 minutes and some more overnight. I like to use these once a month for a little extra pampering.

All day routine:
1. Kiehls Since Lip Balm – For an all day moisture of my lips!

If you’re just getting into the skincare game and these items seem a little overwhelming, I would suggest to start out with the 4 basic products: cleanser, toner, moisturizer and under eye cream. Once you’ve gotten a handle on the basics, then start to add in products for redness, blemishes, aging, etc.

Note:

  • One of the most important items for your skin, is sun screen!!! The sun can do a lot of damage to our skin, even when it isn’t sunny so be sure to purchase items that include SPF or use an actual facial sun screen.
  • I’ve had consultations for all these products to ensure they are meant for my skin type. Take the time to speak with a brand consultant and if possible, have them provide a skin test.

What does your skin care routine look like? Do you use any of these products? Let me know!
