We’re always searching for the latest trends to add to our wardrobe but any minimalist fashionista will know that you only need select items to wear all year-round. These items are usually seen as “basics” but I like to see them as they key players in an outfit. You can very easily dress them up or stay casual and from personal experience, you will rarely wish you had more items in your closet with all of these choices. Are you looking for minimalist fashion must-haves? I’ve got you covered with a roundup shopping list!
1. THE BAG
It’s the item that holds our entire life yet we usually have every bag except for the one we really need. Here are the 4 bags that you should own.
Bucket Bag – This is your casual carry-all. It can be used for your day to day when you need to carry everything from your wallet to your camera. It’s the “trendy” bag in your closet.
Crossbody Bag – This is your go-to everyday bag that only holds the essentials. It’s the exact bag you need when you’re working hands-free.
Tote – Use the this bag for travelling, quick packs on the weekend or to the beach and carry it all to work (lunch, shoes, etc.).
Clutch – Your traditional evening and dress up bag. I tend to choose ones that also have a strap when I no longer feel like holding it.
2. THE JACKET
When you’re choosing what jacket to wear, choose with the intention that you don’t need to take it off. That can help you create a full look! These 4 jackets are the only ones you’ll need for your every day for spring looks.
Oversized denim – The cool, comfy and casual option that can go from grunge to chic with the twist of your top.
Bomber – If you’re too lazy to put yourself together, this bomber can add the effect you’re looking for. It’s a super stylish choice for an athletic look!
Blazer – Boyfriend chic, office trendster and perfect with a t-shirt for a night out.
Leather Motorcylcle – This is the one jacket that every woman needs in her wardrobe! It goes with every single outfit and adds that edge you’ve been looking for.
3. THE SHIRT
When I’m looking for a shirt that’s in between casual and dressy, I always resort to my blouse collection. Pair it with jeans, trousers, shorts, skirts, the works! You immediately look put together and I recommend three fits: boyfriend, relaxed and fitted.
4. THE T-SHIRT
In my opinion, the T-Shirt is an underrated piece to own. Most of you probably wear it at home or when you’re bumming around but I actually wear it to dress up. These 4 styles can be paired with any of the listed jackets and jeans and will make you looking Parisian chic before you know it. T-Shirts make you look effortless.
I recommend beginning with the bottom styles and when you’re ready, add each style in stripe, grey, white and black.
5. THE JEANS
Jeans are the magical item in your closet! I wear jeans on a daily basis because they’re the easiest item to outfit. I know jeans are the one of the trickiest items to purchase but once you own a great pair – there’s no stopping them! Here are the 4 styles of jeans you should own:
Boyfriend – The baggy and casual look will always be trendy. If you’re looking to dress them up, pair it with a blouse and heels and you’re good to go.
Black & Blue Skinny – These are as staple as they come. They make you look slimming and will be you’re most worn pairs.
Straight leg – Crop the cuffs and go!
6. THE SHOES
Through each season I find myself wearing the same shoes on repeat. I’m not one to have a large shoe collection but there’s something to be said about having a shoe that completes your look, no matter what you wear. These 5 pairs can do just that:
Chelsea boot – Wear it through fall for obvious reasons and pair it with a dress in the warmer months. This sleek and iconic style can make your legs look suuuuper long.
Loafers – Achieve a sophisticated look with this mens inspired shoe.
Mules – Yep, the shoe you hated your mom for wearing is now needed in your wardrobe. Is it a boot? Is it an open toe heel? You’re asking too many questions.
Low heel – I was never a huge fan of super high heels and to this day I still feel the need to try to wear them. I always feel more confident in a low heel. These are also a great style to wear with jeans a t-shirt and head out for lunch.
Sneakers – Luckily, we aren’t 15 and wearing them with flared jeans anymore. A sneaker is much needed in your wardrobe to keep it casual and give your feet a break.
