This month’s Closet Confessions takes you in the closet of Malania Dela Cruz of Dela Cruz PR. Based out of Vancouver, B.C. DCPR reps many of our favourite lifestyle brands such as Lifetime Collective, KNWSHOW, Urbanears, Plenty & Minimum Fashion just to name a few.
I met Malania earlier this year for the first time despite being in contact about blog work over some time. Since then it has been a wonderful relationship full of creativity! She may be small (5’2 to be exact!) but she packs a mean punch in the PR world – watch out for her latest work with upcoming events and projects.
She took myself and Kate into her home on a rainy weekday afternoon with fresh flowers and scrumptious cookies in hand. Playing with her closet (actually, it’s an entire room) for 2 hours creates some serious closet envy. We hope you feel it too. Happy reading!
“As one who naturally gravitates to black, I try to incorporate more prints into my wardrobe. Here i’m wearing a printed top and pants from Danish brand, Minimum with vintage Knox hat, JCrew bracelet and Dolce Vita black suede pumps.”
“A colour coordinated closet not only looks cool but it also makes it easier to dress in the morning. Judging on the majority of items in my closet, it seems I have a penchant for black ankle boots and black/white garments.”
Pic 3 – “I am known to pair sophisticated pieces with casual basics, like a floral print Erdem dress matched with a worn-in Lifetime Collective jean jacket. And as a lover of metal/rock music, it’s only natural to incorporate edgy touches like the Cheap Monday cage bra.”
“Shoes are my absolute favourite fashion item to buy, especially heels. Anyone who knows me knows I’ll wear them high, low, whichever – I love them!”
Pic 2 – “These Italian-made, leather ankle boots have been in my closet for nearly 15 years. I bought them at Value Village for an absurdly cheap amount and was pleased to find them hidden away in a costume box years later when they were back in style. They are a staple in my shoe closet!”
Pic 3 – “Nicholas Kirkwood is known for his signature sculptural shoes, which I adore. I was beyond excited when I found, and later bought, these magnificent platforms for my wedding day from The Room at The Bay.”
“These retro platform Dolce Vita sandals make a nice pairing with our Flora side table, made by Canadian high end furniture company IZM.”
Pic 1- “I’m not really the fur-wearing type, unless it’s vintage. This white rabbit fur coat was passed down to me by my late-friend Krista, whose style was much more flashy than my own. When I look at it I’m reminded of her spirit and her lust for life.”
Pic 2 – “A colourful handbag is an easy way to accessorize an outfit. I have a collection of new and vintage bags in my closet”
Pic 3 – “Thanks to my husband (shout out to DJ Age) we have a library of over 3000 records in our house. We still like to hunt for rare vinyl when travelling, along with little treasures, like my 1930s Parisian fashion magazines. Also, I am to note that the Jane Fonda work out record is not my husband’s. Ha!”
“I think anyone can wear Emerald green and look great. I bought this blazer from Plenty and it’s a go-to piece when i want to dress up a t-shirt and jeans.”
Pic 4 – “I am eternally drawn to gold and black accessories. Lately I’ve been stocking up on Komono watches and sunglasses, chunky pieces from J Crew and gold statement rings.”
Pic 5 – “Most people don’t know this but for a small blip in time I oversaw the marketing and sales for a small jewelry collective. I still hold a large collection of handcrafted earrings from one of the designers, mainly because they are all one-of-a-kind!”
“My husband is a skateboarder and, of course, I have to share space with his toys too. Wearing a Moschino net tank dress, Joie leather sandals and vintage jewelry.”
“My wedding dress (Jason Wu from The Room) is still one of my treasured clothing purchases to this day. I’ll likely never wear it again but it’s fun to take it out and admire its beauty.”
