30th Birthday Details

I’ve survived my first week of being 30 and it’s full of happiness and achy joints. I used to think that my friends were exagerating when they told me when they turned 30 their body just didn’t feel the same. It was almost like clockwork once the clock struck 30! Noooo! But I’m sure that was just a coincidence.

My birthday celebration was exactly what I had hoped for. I was joined by all of my family and friends that have supported me and helped me grow in the last 3 decades coupled with delicious food (which we’ll get to below!) and an afternoon of relaxed vibes. Thank you to everyone who joined me! And for those that didn’t see my birthday inviation I will officially never use Facebook for a birthday invite again!!! ARG.

I had planned on two things: wearing my stellar outfit by Truvelle and taking looooads of photos. Two things didnt happen, can you guess? A last minute mis-hap with my Truvelle outfit left me without and I was having such a great time hosting my loved ones that I didn’t take a single photo for myself! So, unfortunately, as promised, you won’t see images of the party but a more “deconstructed” layout instead.

From the top, people!

GETTING READY
I opted in for my casual red Club Monaco sweater, frayed Missguided jeans, Karl Lagerfeld shoes & Couturist hair pin. You can see the entire look HERE.

THE CAKE
I was floored when I pulled up to Original Cupcakes on Robson St. & Thurlow St. to see the masterpiece that their creative Pastry Chef’s had created. This cake was just what I wanted and it tasted absolutely delicious! Cupcakes may be known for their smaller treats but they can pull out a cake punch like no other. Covered in black but decadent inside, this 3 tier cake was made of vanilla layers & caramel buttercream between.

THE BITES
If they aren’t already, Railtown Catering should be the official provider or deliciousness. This is the second time that I’ve used the masterminds behind my hosting boards. These platters were swarmed the moment my guests saw them and were cleared within the first 2 hours!

What we had:

  • Charcuterie platter for 10 (local artisan meats, pickles, olives and mustards , house made breads and crackers)
  • Cheese and Fruit platter for 10 (canadian cheeses, seasonal fruits, preserves, nuts, house made breads and crackers)
  • Mezze platter for 10 (lebanese and fresh chickpea hummus, raw vegetables, marinated feta, falafel, olives, pita)

THE DRINKS
Besides a bevvy (pun intended) of non-alcholic drinks and 33 Acres Beer was some of Vancouver’s most sought after wine for parties. Although I do not drink wine myself, it was a must for me to include something for my guests. The idea behind the birthday was not have my guests spend a ton of money on going out for food and drinks so I made sure to provide them something to enjoy! Sandhill Wines was a hit and had something for everyone who enjoys white & red. It paired beautifully with the platters from Railtown.
